I remember thinking last week, the UFC 156 was almost too good to be true. And, apparently it was.
TATAME reported yesterday that the light heavyweight match between Dan Henderson and Lyoto Machida would be moved up 3 weeks to February 23rd for the UFC 157 event in Anaheim.
It is rumored that the winner of the Henderson/Machida bout will be next in-line for the light heavyweight title after Sonnen fights Jon Jones on April 27.

Lyoto Machida (18-3) is entertaining the thought of a drop down to middleweight.
"I walk around close to 205 pounds, so if I put in the work, I do think it's possible to fight at 185 pounds," Machida told MMA Junkie. "But for now, I'm staying at 205."
Machida has had success in the UFC light heavyweight division. In 2009 he won the title and defended it later that year before dropping it in 2010. Machida had another chance at UFC gold at UFC 140, when he fought…Continue

UFC veteran Dan Henderson insists the middleweight title is not high on his list of priorities, regardless of what president Dana White tells the media.
Henderson has done it all in MMA, winning PRIDE and Strikeforce titles whilst beating the majority of the best fighters of his generation. The only thing missing from his record is a UFC championship.
Hendo is currently waiting to face the winner of Jon Jones and Rashad Evans, who contest the light-heavyweight…Continue

It stands to logic that winning, and then winning some more, will elevate you in the pecking order. That goes for all sports, really, not just mixed martial arts. But there are other ways to earn yourself acknowledgment as being among the crème de la crème.
Consider Michael Bisping. Consider Benson Henderson. Neither won a fight last month -- one of them didn't even step into…Continue
