After yesterday's pre-fight press conference for UFC 155, Dana White commented on Gilbert Melendez's future in the octagon.
It's a wonder (or not) why Dana White has failed to speak about Melendez in the past. But after Benson Henderson dominated Nate Diaz for 5 rounds earlier this month, White has finally spoken out about Gil in the UFC.
White told reporters that Melendez's first bout in the UFC would likely be a title shot.
"We'll see, but we'll probably bring him in and give him a title shot," White said.
Let's see what happens. We are still waiting on the outcome of Anthony Pettis and Donald Cerrone. If Pettis wins, I see him as next in line, considering he is the last guy to beat Henderson. If Cerrone wins, I can't see him deserving the shot after that fight, possibly one or two more dominating wins would move him into that #1 contender spot.
In other lightweight action, how about a bout between Gray Maynard and Nate Diaz for the spring?
