We’re Pretty Sure The Cage Is Not Supposed To Decide An MMA Fight

There really does not need to be any more danger involved in mixed martial arts. Whatever complaints one might have about the sport, it’s hard to make the case that “they’re not putting their bodies on the line enough” could be one of them. And if you don’t believe that, we suggest you re-watch this kick to the face.

Point is, a big part of MMA’s appeal is the danger of it – plenty dangerous enough that it doesn’t need any outside factors making it more so. At a recent fight in Kentucky, though, that’s just what happened. Starting at the 1:30 mark below, as unusual an ending to a fight as you’ll see:

Well, at least they got up. And either this happens more often we realize, or it’s a wonder it doesn’t happen more often. With the force at which these guys are constantly crashing into those walls, the slightest malfunction virtually ensures this exact scenario…as these poor guys demonstrated so well. At least both fighters were apparently compensated as if they’d won. For taking a dual fall like that, it was the least that could be done.
